We often talk with local entrepreneurs who launch a business with little capital and a headquarters office in their spare bedroom or even the ubiquitous garage start-up tinkering with spare parts. A computer and a smart phone comprise the only equipment needed to start trolling for clients. But how many entrepreneurs start a business requiring hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment investment before even beginning to advertise.
Today's guests, John and Maria Vitale, own Harvey RV Rental Company in Greenacres. Maria is from Columbia and as long as she can remember she dreamed about buying an RV and exploring America. When she moved here and married John, they quickly bought an RV, started exploring and fell in love with the concept. Now they believe every American should take advantage of the ability to take a traveling home and just explore this vast and beautiful country.
What is the primary reason people prefer RV travel? It's a hassle-free way to see America with the freedom and flexibility to go where they want, when they want - without the worry and stress of inflexible schedules, changing reservations, airline cancellations, long security lines and luggage restrictions. This is especially true when you are bringing along the whole family with squiggly kids and maybe even the family pets.
With 16,000 public and private RV campgrounds in the US, RV'ers are free to roam America for a weekend or for months at a time. If your mental image is one of dusty campsites and dirt roads - you are living in the dark ages. Today's RV parks feature swimming pools, game rooms, playgrounds, snack bars, tennis courts, golf courses and even health spas.
