Do you often wonder what the secret sauce is to getting free media coverage for your small business? If so, you are not alone. Most small business owners toil away building a successful business while they frustratingly read about less successful businesses in the local paper. How can you get that kind of coverage?
Most small business owners rely on press releases to get their story out to the media but they don't understand what they need to say and how they need to say it. Entrepreneurs get all wrapped up describing various detailed nuances about their business and by the time a journalist gets through the hyperbole, they have lost interest in whatever story you are trying to tell them might have been.
Surveys show that journalists do often use data from an impressive press release to create a story. Remember, it's may not be the story that's important - it's how you present your story that will get your press release read and ultimately result in a call from a reporter.
Today's guest is Antonio Fins who is the Business Editor of the Palm Beach Post, along with SCORE mentor Lee Newman. Antonio promises that he reads every single email he receives and he shares what a small business owner needs to do to pique his interest and ultimately get a story about the business in the paper.
